Blog Style Sheets

So my pal Jake pointed me to www.moveablestyles.com to hunt around for some style sheets that could make my blog look less out-of-the-box. My line was that I'm too busy to hack these things myself, and lazy, and lack the artistic ability, and there had to be a glut of good ideas online right?
Well that site is nice and all but it does appear to have a total of 7 styles on display apart from the MovableType defaults. Jake and Dane and everyone else I know with MT have rad looking style sheets, and I found it difficult to believe that either of those chaps found time in their hectic lives to lovingly hand craft style sheets, so I just wanta know where they shop :)

In the meantime, I've decided to dispell the first 2 of the 3 objections I made to hacking my own styles by doing so. Now my blog looks like Metastar, which is also in some dire need of interior decorating :]

Well, it sure is green. :) The secret to having hand crafted style sheets and good design is to buy a bunch of monkeys and put them to work for 24 hours straight. Just like Jack on 24 I scream, 'WHERE'S MY NEW SITE!!!!!!'. One week later it is here. Ahhhhhhhhhh monkeys.

Yikes...that's a lotta green.

And my site doesn't use the MT style sheets, just FYI. I'm not the CSS stud like I should be, so my site is a tables-based layout with CSS used to pretty it up.

That would be why your left-column is full page width for a moment while the page loads, when viewed in firefox. I wondered about that ;)

I'm pretty confident with CSS. I can make CSS do 99% of anything I want it to without resorting to tables. The only problem here is I don't know what I "want to do"; I'm no artist :)

Maybe I'll just copy the look of your blog using CSS, just to prove it can be done :] Or else if someone could pass me an image file of an artists conceptualization of a cool blog, I could flex my cameleon powers at that

Ditto my site to Jake's comment-- I suppose one of these days I'll get around to redoing everything in CSS, but I'm comfortable enough with a table-based layout. It gets the job done :)

I rather like Kuro5hin's design, if you're looking for something to steal.

Nah, I'm not gnna steal nobody's anything. Not even to show off my CSS skizzles :) I'ma half to byte the bullet and code my own styles. Stay tooned. And thanks for all tha support :)

I am a hot CSS stud. Over the past year or so I've been rewriting the basic Movable Type HTML templates to use a coding structure that's more familiar to me, and I have coded all the CSS for my existing template by hand. Everything is 100 percent home-grown studness. No tables, no nuthin'.

All I can say is, MORE GREEN.

That's "Moe Green" to you bud :]
Congrats on your styles by the way they are the barm.
